Katria katria
is a medium sized fish and it is the only member of its genus.
It has a standard length of 5."
It is found in Mangoro and Nosivolo Rivers in east-central Madagascar.

Katria katria
was first described by Reinthal & Stiassny, 1997 as Ptychochromoides katria.
Subsequently on the basis of molecular analysis and other feature Sparks and Smith assigned it to the new genus Katira.
It is the only member of its genus.
Description
Shape :-
Katria reaches a length of about 5.1 " (SL).
There are 14-15 dorsal spines and 9-11 dorsal soft rays.
It has three anal spines: 3 ;and 8-9 anal soft rays.
The Vertebrae are between : 29 - 31.
Katria katria is differenciated from Ptychochromoides by presence of two tooth rows.
Distribution & Habitat
Katria katria
Katria katria is found in Nosivolo River and Mangoro in Tamatave Province, Madagascar, Africa.
It lives in rivers amongst sand and gravel bottom and scattered boulders.
Diet
Not much information is available on its dietry preferences.
Conservation Status & Threats
IUCN Red list shows status of Katria katria as "Vulnerable ".
This species has a restricted distribution within the Nosivolo and Mangoro rivers, but its habitat is in very good condition and it does not have to
deal with either exotic predators or competitors.
Given the lack of evidence for decline in quality of habitat or population size (it is a very common species within its range) this species is assessed
as Vulnerable on account of its restriction to a single location.
Tank Size and setup:
Not much information is available on its upkeep in aquariums, however as it a medium to large size fish, a large aquarium can be used.
